Jennifer Martinez, The Waters Pelton Organization 561-626-0026, ext. 19 H.O.W.’s Turquoise and Denim Lassos in Close to $300,000 for Ovarian Cancer PALM BEACH, FL. – On Wednesday, February 27, 2008 The Breakers “We are thrilled the event was again a success,” said Phyllis Kingsbury, Program Administrator of H.O.W. “The money raised will not only help us create awareness of the disease through educational events, but will also go towards assisting women with ovarian cancer by providing them with financial support, and fund the Jacquie Liggett Fellowship for research.” The western-themed evening brought out supporters in their most fashionable cowboy hats and rhinestone belts for a night in the “canyon”. Guests packed the dance floor the entire night two-stepping to today’s hottest country music. The highlight of the evening was the touching tribute made by the co-chairs, Judy Grubman and Trish Donnelley, to their late friend and H.O.W founder, Jacquie Liggett, who lost her battle with ovarian cancer in 2007. “Jacquie was a woman with a deep commitment to ovarian cancer research,” said Grubman. “She channeled the adversity of ovarian cancer into increased awareness, sensitivity, and support for women with this disease. The success of H.O.W. is a testament to all of Jacquie’s hard work.” Honorary chair of the event was Laura Munder. The event also featured a silent auction of fine watches donated by Cartier, Piaget, Tiffany, Bulgari, Greenleaf & Crosby, Richters and a special watch once owned by Jacquie Liggett and donated by her husband, Dr. Jack Liggett. Also, co-chair Judy Grubman donated pieces of western-inspired jewelry from her own line of jewelry for the auction. Proceeds go towards the Jacquie Liggett Fellowship for research, educational events, and the Jacquie Liggett Angel Fund to help women with ovarian cancer experiencing great financial need.
