...to Envision the Future of Nursing
Visioning a 21st Century Reality for Nursing in Our Region
WEST PALM BEACH, FLORIDA - Palm Healthcare Foundation, Inc. (PHF), in partnership with South Florida Nursing Shortage Consortium and the South Florida Organization of Nurse Executives, recently hosted a regional summit for nurse leaders from Southeast Florida and the Treasure Coast. The event, "Visioning a 21st Century Reality for Nursing in Our Region," brought together 65 nurse leaders to develop a strategic agenda and vision for the future of nursing in the Southeast Florida and Treasure Coast region.
"The population growth and diversity that is expected in our region will have a profound effect on our community, healthcare delivery system and the nursing profession," said Suzette Wexner, President, Palm Healthcare Foundation, Inc. "The purpose of the regional nursing summit was to address the many challenges we will face as healthcare providers, and to develop a plan to shape the future of nursing to meet these challenges from a regional perspective."
The summit resulted in a strategic agenda that focuses on policy and advocacy, access to healthcare services, nursing education and leadership, diversity in the profession, and the value of nursing and nursing-driven outcomes within the healthcare system.
"There was great synergy in gathering nurse leaders from academia, healthcare organizations and community partners to develop and map strategies to guide and prepare the nursing profession in our region to meet the future healthcare needs of our community," said Jacqueline Gonzalez, Senior Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer, Miami Children's Hospital and President, South Florida Nursing Consortium.
